WINDROSE

Welcome to the wonderful World of winds, kingdom of God Eol. These winds are constantly present in this part of Adriatic, creating beutiful landscapes and serenitiy,or  rough seas and destruction.

BURA, also called " Black Wind" or wind from the mountains is the strongest and coldest, on the  Adriatic. It comes from Northest with a tremendous force, creating huge white crested waves. In old times this wind used to be a graet danger for  the sailing ships and  their crews. It was black clothes eor rest of their lives; that i where the  name "Black Wind" comes from. Black like onyx or allanit.

LEVANAT- is chilly wind, not as strong a bura. It is called Levanat, because it is blowing from Easl- Levanat. Artist  Mary  Buj painted it in purple, color of  Amethyst or purple Fluorite.

JUGO- comes from Southest. Everyone knows about this  warm wind that is not  so popular among the older  folks  because  it feels  stale  and  irritating.  Far  from  the shore it  can create big slow moving waves, higher than bura wind. It usually brings rain and stormy weather. We  gave it orange color , color of  calcite, Mandarin Topaz.

SILOKO and OSTRO com from Southwest. They  are  very  similar  to Jugo, but  Ostro is very brisk, unpleasant  wind.  The  red color  of  Ruby  belongs  to  these  winds.

LEBIC  and  GARBIN  come from  Southwest. Lebic  is warm  strong wind  whose  roots  are in deserts of Lybia. It  brings fine yellowish sand to Dalmatian  islands and the coast. Garbin  could be  devastating for ships in  Hvar and  Brac narrows, because it can create huge  waves that do not have  room to expanded. We gave them yellow, color of precious ston Citrin or Nealit.

PULENAT or PULENT sncaks in our waters with gloomy weather. It stirs th water, forcing the fish towards the surface ,creating ideal fishing conditions. For as, this is a green wind  resembling precious Smaragd.

MAESTRAL or ZMORAC  is without a doubt most pleasant wind. It brings mild

freshness during the hot summer days to the Dalmatian islands. Because oe  its mildness, it is  favorite for sailing, and because of  freshness, does wonder to vegetation and  vineyards. It is a  sign of  nice weather. It feels  like  light  blue  Topas or  Aquamarine.

TRAMUNTANA  comes  from  North, over the  hills. It  is a cold wind , usually sign that it will be replaced by Bura wind. It  is a blue wind that will change its colors like multicolored preciuous stone.

Have  a  safe  sailing
